Communications is probably one of the most important trait of human race. The way people communicate has been changing so rapidly that it is starting to dominate our life. I found it very hard to cope with.

A few years ago, every educated human was talking about how knowledgeable one can be with their wonderful common friend named Google. Surely, access to information made us better. But most of us ignored the downside of excessive information. One example is that we search for nice restaurant on the internet, the food is tasty because the website rated it 5 stars. We trust rating that a stranger wrote, and very likely the writer could have some sort of conflict of interest. There are simply too many rubbish up there on the internet.

The same thing is happening to us in various communication means. I get 2 letters, 2 sms, 2 support tickets, 5 facebook msgs, 10 msn msgs, 40 calls, 100 emails, 150 whatsapp msgs a day just like many busy people. At least 2 hours are wasted everyday. I reckon these messages can be effectively communicated with less than 50 words, seriously! Clearly we are overwhelmed with unnecessary communications. There are simply too many rubbish flying across via telecommunication means.

So what is import, and what is rubbish? Telecommunication is worth receiving only when it is fast, short, and effective.

No long story, I don’t care how drunk someone were in LKF last night and was working hungover this morning. All he needs to tell me is that which file he accidentally deleted and is requiring recovery.

No “hi”, “lol”, or whatever. Make it fast, straight to the point.

One only has 24 hours a day, wasting 2 hours of your time and 2 hours of other’s time is too much. Life is short, go flirt some girls! Stop poking a smart phone spam messaging other people now!

Before I am going greet everyone happy new year, I have to rant!

I am so sick of Chinese New Year food! So grose!

This is the mandatory recipes for the period:
Abalone, sea cucumber, shark fin & fish maw (鮑參翅肚)
lotus root, black moss 蓮藕髮菜
steamed fish, pork belly 大魚大肉
CNY cake 年糕
turnip cake 蘿蔔糕

Chinese are super rich these days and we purposely waste food during CNY period (wtf!), this will bring us surplus food and wealth over the year (seriously?).

Let me show you one by one.

Abalone

The only reason you want to lick this must be because of it’s look. Exactly the same as Gillian Chung’s pussy. The price is more than a thousand each, and the nutrition value is close to AN EGG.

Sea cucumber

Looks like my dick, taste like my dick. Chinese people like my dick. Yeeha!

Shark fin

Err… What’s the point of eating this? The nutrition value is far less than an egg. Yet to mention the harmful preservatives added to preserve this thing.

Fish Maw

Basically some leftover body parts of a fish. Chinese believe they are very good for skin, making them very pricey. I prefer fish steak.

Lotus Root

Yuck!

Black Moss

Someone collected my bush hair an made them Chinese food, they think eating my bush hair will bring them wealth. JK. Black moss is actually one of the threatened and extinct species.

Steamed Fish

Chinese think that steaming is the best way to keep the freshness of a fish. They like to say “Uhh! Very fresh! Very fresh!” when eating it. Trust me, they all taste like mixture of soy sauce and MSG chicken stock.

CNY Cake

Chewing gum made of super sticky rice. You don’t swallow chewing gum, don’t you?

Turnip Cake

This cake absorb oil like a sponge.

Generally, I think CNY food are disgusting. Is it only me or do you think so?

Anyway, Kung Hei Faat Choi & Happy New Year!

Comments:

My 2011 was a very special year, full of surprise, full of challenges.

I lost almost all my cash in the first quarter of the year due to a series of wrong investment decisions and lack of knowledge to the market. School fees were paid and was painful.

However, I received the best gift ever in 2011 and she is definitely going to be my wife in the future.

Exams are also very unhealthy, I lost weight, I had insomnia, I had headache… 19 exams in a year is probably too much…

I also failed to attend many dinners and gatherings over the year.

Back to the plan, accounting is a lot more difficult than I expected, or I am probably too dumb for this specialisation. My sprite gone fishing in accounting classes and I slept so well reading accounting books. Notes are clean as new. More effort is required to achieve CPA.

Making a change is not easy too, I have been giving myself too many excuses to delay my plan to get in a CPA firm. This may not be the right way to go, but is certainly beneficial to my forensic dream.

Something worth mentioning, my areas of knowledge in Healthcare Information System and High Frequency Trading had been widely extended. I don’t have a plan to make them my primary business now, but they are serious moneymaking skills.

With 2 major professionalism target not being met and I failed to gain weight. I could have rated my performance in 2011 a fail. But the extra experience in other area compensated a bit. I give myself a low pass. I must do it better in 2012! oosh!

How to pwn school kids in Battlefield 3 legit?

After hours and hours of work, you are probably tired and sleepy by the time when you get home. Your eyesight and reaction are no longer as sensitive as 10 years ago. This ruins your fun playing first person shooter as you consistently got beaten by school kids. The lucky thing is that you now have a thicker wallet than school kids (hopefully, lol).

Kids with a normal gaming PC will have something 40-70 frames per second (FPS), that is going to be 25-14ms delay. The monitor, network will probably add another 30ms to it. Difference of 20ms is not that much really, but is bad enough to pull down your K/D ratio.

Just like a sport car with 3s 0-100, it is only 5s faster than most cars. The difference is already heaven and hell.

To pwn people, we need a performance PC! Because no fruit can beat a PC!
Our objective is to build a PC that will do approximately 110 fps or even 220 fps on some very nice HD monitors.

Performance 110 FPS Configuration

ATi Radeon HD 6950 2G firmware unlock and overclock to 6970 performance $2000
AMD Phenom II x4 965 $1000
4G x 2 DDR3 1600 CL9 $450
OCZ Agility 3 60G $800
Motherboard $750
650W PSU $600
Total: HK$5600

Exotic 220 FPS Configuration

2 x ATi Radeon HD 6950 2G Crossfire firmware unlock and overclock to 6970 performance $4000
Intel i5-2500 $1650
4G x 2 DDR3 1600 CL9 $450
OCZ Agility 3 120G $1450
Motherboard $850
850W PSU $1200
Total: HK$9600

As promised, I am publishing my hint for everyone’s reference.

All questions in the assignment are hypothetical case studies. An IRAC formatted answer to this type of questions will make our marker very happy.

IRAC stands for Issue, Relevant law, Application to facts, and Conclusion according to our life-saving plagiarism source Wikipedia.
Take a minute or two to read this : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IRAC

Our assignment questions are very straight forward, which I won’t even care about spending effort trying to argue on both side. Neville is not expecting us to give that much of detail as he said to us in class. This make our life much easier. All we need to do is to
I) copy and paste the question (without the case);
R) find out relevant principles from legislation or case law, see my notes below;
A) copy the relevant sentence that tells how a principle was satisfied / not satisfied, repeat until you talked about all principles;
C) Give a conclusion, like “there was a contract”, this part won’t give you many marks so it doesn’t really matter.

Following are the laws I am quoting in my answer:

1(a) Carlill v Carbolic Smoke ball co.; Harvey v Facey [1893] UKPC 1

Offer and Acceptance;
Intention to create legal relationship;
Consideration;

1(b) Cap. 19 Bill of Exchange Ordinance s.27(1) Value and holder for value - Consideration for bill

(1) Valuable consideration for a bill may be constituted by-
(a) any consideration sufficient to support a simple contract;
(b) an antecedent debt or liability. Such a debt or liability is deemed valuable consideration whether the bill is payable on demand or at a future time.

2(a) Cap. 32 Companies Ordinance s.57B(1) Approval of company required for allotment of shares by directors

Notwithstanding anything in a company’s memorandum or articles, the directors shall not without the prior approval of the company in general meeting exercise any power of the company to allot shares:
Provided that no such prior approval shall be required in relation to the allotment of shares in the company under an offer made pro rata by the company to the members of the company, excluding for that purpose any member whose address is in a place where such offer is not permitted under the law of that place.

Cap. 32 Companies Ordinance s.111(6) Annual general meeting

A company is not required to hold a meeting in accordance with subsection (1) if-(a) everything that is required or intended to be done at the meeting (by resolution or otherwise) is done by a resolution or resolutions in accordance with section 116B; and

(b) a copy of each document (including any accounts or records) which under this Ordinance would be required to be laid before the company at the meeting or otherwise produced at the meeting is provided to each member of the company-(i) by whom or on whose behalf the resolution or resolutions, as the case may be, is or are required to be signed under that section; and
(ii) before or at the same time as the resolution or resolutions, as the case may be, is or are provided to the member. (Added 46 of 2000 s. 12)

Cap. 32 Companies Ordinance s.116B Written resolutions of companies

(1) Anything which in the case of a company may be done-

(a) by resolution of the company in general meeting; or
(b) by resolution of a meeting of any class of members of the company,may be done, without a meeting and without any previous notice being required, by resolution in writing signed by or on behalf of all the members of the company who at the date of the resolution would be entitled to attend and vote at such meeting.
(2) The signatures need not be on a single document provided each is on a document which accurately states the terms of the resolution.
(3) The date of the resolution means when the resolution is signed by or on behalf of the last member to sign.
(4) A resolution agreed to in accordance with this section has effect as if passed-(a) by the company in general meeting; or
(b) by a meeting of the relevant class of members of the company,as the case may be; and any reference in any enactment to a meeting at which a resolution is passed or to members voting in favour of a resolution shall be construed accordingly.
(5) Any reference in any enactment to-(a) the date of passing of a resolution is, in relation to a resolution agreed to in accordance with this section, a reference to the date of the resolution;
(b) the date of a meeting is, in relation to a resolution agreed to in accordance with this section without the meeting, a reference to the date of the resolution.(6) A resolution may be agreed to in accordance with this section which would otherwise be required to be passed as a special resolution; and any reference in any enactment to a special resolution includes such a resolution.
(7) A company shall cause a record of all resolutions (and of the signatures thereto) agreed to in accordance with this section to be entered into a book kept for that purpose in the same way as minutes of proceedings of a general meeting of the company.
(8) Where a record made in accordance with subsection (7) by a company purports to be signed by a director of the company or secretary of the company, then-(a) the record is evidence of the proceedings in agreeing to the resolution to which the record relates; and
(b) until the contrary is proved, the requirements of this Ordinance with respect to those proceedings shall be deemed to have been complied with.(9) Section 120 shall apply to a record made in accordance with subsection (7) as that section applies to the minutes of proceedings of any general meeting of a company.
(10) If a company fails to comply with subsection (7), the company and every officer of the company who is in default shall be liable to a fine and, for continued default, to a daily default fine.

Cap. 32 Companies Ordinance s.120 Inspection of minute books

(1) The books containing the minutes of proceedings of any general meeting of a company shall during business hours (subject to such reasonable restrictions as the company may by its articles or in general meeting impose, so that no less than 2 hours in each day be allowed for inspection) be open to the inspection of any member without charge.
(2) Any member shall be entitled to be furnished, within 7 days after he has made a request in that behalf to the company, with a copy of any such minutes as aforesaid at a charge not exceeding $1 for every 100 words.
(3) If any inspection required under this section is refused or if any copy required under this section is not sent within the proper time, the company and every officer of the company who is in default shall be liable in respect of each offence to a fine and, for continued default, to a daily default fine. (Amended 22 of 1950 Schedule; 7 of 1990 s. 2)
(4) In the case of any such refusal or default, the court may by order compel an immediate inspection of the books in respect of all proceedings of general meetings or direct that the copies required shall be sent to the persons requiring them.

I am getting numerous amount of enquiries on how to earn The Sims Social virtual money and points at insanely fast rate. The methods can be categorised into 3 levels.

1. Cracking

WARNING: Cracking (or some people call it Hacking) is a criminal offence in most jurisdiction and is violating EA terms of service. I am not recommending anyone to do this.

1.1 Speed Hack + Memory Edit

Some well written freeware on Internet allow you to hook a running process and increase the clock speed of that process. If your computer can handle 300 times the original speed, you can get 1 energy point per second. Although the sever will not accept your ridicules time difference which you may find a way to bypass this verification.

1.2 TCP/IP Packet Manipulation

There are many actions in-game that will give you simoleons or social points. Sniff the unencrypted packet and resend the request again, again and again.

2. Botting

WARNING: Botting is cheating, and may be a criminal offence and is violating EA terms of service. Do it at your own risk.

Defoe has more than 48 hours a day, 24 of them were spent on clicking “hygiene” button at Defoe’s sims house.

Automation will make your life easier, not only by cheating in facebook game, but to save you a lot of time performing regular tasks at work. It requires you to learn a bit of very basic programming and is 100% worth your time.

One programming tool I want to introduce is the AutoIt Script Editor from http://www.autoitscript.com. Free and small to download. Easy to learn.

This is one of my example script that will get your sims rich when you afk.

Opt("WinWaitDelay",100)
Opt("WinDetectHiddenText",1)
Opt("MouseCoordMode",0)

$i = 0
_WinWaitActivate("The S","")
While $i <= 1000
MouseClick("left",Random(495,505,1),Random(745,755,1),1)
Sleep( 4000 )
WEnd

#region --- Internal functions FN Start ---
Func _WinWaitActivate($title,$text,$timeout=0)
	WinWait($title,$text,$timeout)
	If Not WinActive($title,$text) Then WinActivate($title,$text)
	WinWaitActive($title,$text,$timeout)
EndFunc
#endregion --- Internal functions FN End ---

3. Legit

Click “hygiene” button in my sims house. You get money and points dropping from sky. No energy required. Sky is your limit.

Buy Sim Cash with your credit card.

These days, I am very depressed. My caring friends are asking me why. The huge list of reasons includes professional exams, cramp coursework, career, income in the future, not being able to gather with my friends, and most devastating one – pressure from family!

Today, right after having a difficult exam. I decided to skip half day of class to have yumcha with my mum. In that 2 hours of lunch, I couldn’t really count how many times she subjectively compared me with my similar aged relatives, which they are very successful people in every aspects in fact. I am pretty sure all C9 do this all the time, and this is very annoying.

Other than this, I am also very stressful in making my own decisions. Especially when I am the eldest son in a Hakka family. My own decision is not my own, what I do will more or less affect my young cousins. Being a responsible role-model is actually not easy.

Mum was commenting about my career strategy, compared me with only the most successful people she met.

She didn’t really see the difference between how much investment the very successful people and the investment in me.

All the examples she talked about has one common fact, they are strategically put into top kindergarten, top primary school, top secondary school, strategically moved overseas to take the easier version of A-Level exam, financed to study top university, networked to top firms for internship, not to mention the huge sum they paid for private tutoring. These kids are trained to be future leaders of our society. Investment of PARKnSHOP get a huge profit in return is what it suppose to be.

What about me, I was also strategically put into nearest cheap kindergarten, nearest primary school, a nearby highschool which was a bottom 10, had some luck to go Australia for a “background laundry”. I had no one to ask when I had problem with public exams in highschool, no good private tutor. My English is learnt from Filipino maids (lol, I support Filipino maids getting PR). All these aren’t necessarily bad, without all these, Defoe is probably not the Defoe I am.

People from top school won’t understand how the environment it was in a band 5. Classmates were drugged, jailed for robbing people after school, involved in gang fight, etc… Teachers were not giving up anyone, so whenever there is one Chinese-new-migrant joining the class, the English class could start again from teaching “I am a boy”. These kids are trained to be future fuckers of our society. And yes, we all fucked up our HKCEE. That’s what you get with the investment capital of a fishball hawker, no chance to compete with PARKnSHOP.

To generalise advices my mom gave me. Mother thinks:

I studied too much.

Yes, I admit that I am over-educated. You don’t know how bad it feels when people laughs at my single digit HKCEE result. The only way I can think of is to shut these peoples’ mouth with a better qualification than they have. This worked very well, study is tax deductable and is counting towards my CPD hours anyway.

I aim too high, not practical.

Everyone is a CEO of himself, I know I am shit, and I know I have 99.9999% chance of failing to be very successful, but I am 100% sure that I want to work like an ox, try my very best to be very successful. Whatever other people says, I would rather try hard and die, than to live like a dumbass till 2099. By the way, who were comparing me with the very successful people all the time in the first place?

I am not smart enough to say things nicely to please others.

I take this advice. I also found myself criticising too much, sometimes hurting others feeling. Will mind what I say. Thanks mom.
